Several online meetings (due to the pandemic) are held, with the aim of empowering and educating teachers in relation to the theoretical and practical aspects of anti-racism policy, such as the theoretical background (eg racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, anti-gypsyism, racism, discrimination, stereotypes, diversity, etc.), the responsibilities and commitments of each member of the school community and the steps that schools must take to deal with racist incidents. In addition to the trainings, every year, the PI offers support to the schools of the Network in the following ways: continuous updating of the site (presentations, frequently asked questions, support material, etc.), support line (telephone and email), parent brochure on politics in 7 languages (Greek, English, Arabic, Turkish, Russian, Romanian, Bulgarian), focused training opportunities (school seminars, optional afternoon seminars, network meetings, conferences in collaboration with relevant NGOs and organizations, e.g. UNHCR, Commissioner for the Rights of the Child, etc.). Overall, the Network, using an intersectional approach, identifies and aims to empower teachers and schools in addressing challenges related to the implementation of the antiracist policy not only in Cyprus but worldwide: the lack of reporting of racist incidents, the need accountability by organizations and individuals, the development of appropriate pedagogical interventions based on racism that operates in every context and the ongoing awareness of ever-changing and evolving racism around the world.
